Little Library of Water: Station 15 (Film Screening & Discussion)

2000 1200 Imagine Water Works

Sunday, September 15 @ 2pm

Join Imagine Water Works and Chasity Hunter for a screening of “Station 15” in partnership with the New Orleans Public Library’s Teen Movie Program! Watch the short film at 2pm, and stay for a discussion with the film’s lead speaker, Chasity Hunter, on the film and advocacy.

You can also download the Station 15 curriculum now, which is free and available on Ripple Effect’s resource page: https://rippleeffectnola.com/resources/

The curriculum was created for teachers who want to bring current New Orleans water issues into their classrooms. Developed in collaboration with the Director of Station 15, this lesson plan introduces students to city and regional water issues. Students gain background information and view the film to develop their own perspective on the city’s water management.

More about Station 15:
This short film (15 minutes), directed by Kira Akerman and Sophie Tintori features Chasity Hunter, a high school student and poet who experienced intense flooding in her New Orleans neighborhood during both Hurricane Katrina and recent summer rainstorms. Inspired to find out how safe her city really is, she investigates her city’s infrastructure and questions water experts, finding her own voice along the way.
